We have finally decided to say goodbye to our much loved 1989 VW T25 Camper after 22 years in the family. Known simply as ‘The Van’ she has been with us as long as our children and has given us many wonderful memories. Holidays to South Wales, Pembrokeshire and Cornwall along with European adventures through France and Northern Spain have helped clock up 148,000 miles, but she is still going strong.
In 2010 she had a reconditioned engine fitted, and this has clocked in the region of 50, 000 miles. Originally white, in 2017 we had her resprayed two tone Pearl White and Cream as well the ‘rock n roll bed’ upholstered to match. The side window seals were also changed at this point and the fuel tank and fuel lines had significant work in 2022.
Since the respray she has been stored inside over winter so her bodywork is still pretty good.
MOT’d yearly throughout her time with us, and serviced reasonably regularly, I am confident she has plenty of miles left in her and she still turns heads when we drive her to the coast.
